Graduation
These last couple of years has been stressful on my entire family. In the year of 2007 my mother lost her job and my two younger sisters, my mother, and I stayed in a shelter. We left the shelter in October of 2007 to be put into a program in Springhill Lake Apartment Complex in a Transitional Housing Program. This was so the most challenging part of my life because I had to be strong for my family and for my mother. She only wants the best for me and she does all she can for me so that I can get where I want to be, but she can not fund a four year college so I decided to follow a passion of mine, cosmetology. To me graduation is more than a hat or a gown, graduation is a step to what’s next for me. My mother is the only person I have helping me and encouraging me to do my best, always telling me to believe in myself and work harder to get where I want to be. I would never accept pity from anyone and the last thing I want is for someone to feel sorry for me, because regardless the circumstance I have grown to be a wonderful young lady. My dream is to become a hair stylist, unlike some people who it is just a job to, I have a passion for it, but to acquire all the equipment I may need will cost a lot of money my mother just can’t afford at this time. This money will not just pay for equipment this money will help me prepare for cosmetology school. Even If I do not win the money I know that there will always be a way and something good is going to come from my situation, because good things already have. I’ve had the chance to meet so many teachers and people who actually care about what I do with my education, and I’ve gotten so much encouragement and support with everything I do. It wouldn’t even matter if I lost, the most important thing to me is making sure people know that there is always a good side to a bad circumstances. With life there comes obstacles and there are only two kinds of people those who give up and people who work harder. I am the hard worker.
